Tretinoin Microsphere Gel 0.04% (15g) uses microsphere time-release technology to deliver tretinoin gradually into the skin, which is designed to reduce irritation compared with conventional gels. It's a good option if regular tretinoin felt too harsh. It contains the same active ingredient (tretinoin) as Retin-A®. Often searched as "retinol," this is pharmaceutical-strength tretinoin — a stronger prescription retinoid, not cosmetic retinol.
Tretinoin Microsphere Gel and Retin-A are separately manufactured products. Their inactive ingredients, complete formulations, manufacturers, packaging, and regulatory status may differ.
Sensitive or easily-irritated skin; anyone who found conventional tretinoin too drying and wants a gentler delivery.
The gradual release supports skin renewal while aiming to be gentler, which may help improve the look of acne-prone skin and texture with potentially less peeling and redness than a standard gel.
Apply a thin layer at night to clean, dry skin, starting 2–3 nights per week. Moisturize if needed; use SPF each morning.
Even with slow release, an adjustment period is possible. Visible change may take several weeks to a few months, and individual results vary.
For external use only. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Start slowly, introduce other actives gradually, and use SPF every morning, as tretinoin increases sun sensitivity. Patch-test first, avoid broken or sunburned skin, and stop use if significant irritation occurs. Use only as directed; consult a qualified professional if unsure.

Is microsphere really gentler? The time-release design aims to reduce irritation versus a standard gel; individual experience varies.
How is this different from Retin-A? Same active ingredient; separately manufactured (see disclaimer above).
